WINTER AND HOLIDAY SAFETY TIPS

Holiday Safety Tips:

- Do not place your tree close to a heat source, including fireplace or heat vent.  The heat will dry out the tree, causing it to be more easily ignited by heat, flame or sparks.

- When the tree becomes dry, discard it promptly.

- Never put holiday tree branches or needles in a fire place.

- Do not leave lit holiday lights unattended.

Winter Safety Tips:

- Have your furnace and chimney professionally inspected annually and cleaned if necessary.  Chimney tar build up is a common cause of chimney fires.

- Use a glass or metal screen in front of your fire place to prevent sparks from igniting nearby carpet of furniture.
