Escape Plans
What is an Escape plan?
An escape plan is a plan of how you are going to get out of your house and to a safe meeting place if there is a fire.
How do I know my Escape Plan?
You and your family should talk about 2 WAYS out of EVERY room in your house. The first way out should always be the easiest. Every way should be practiced with an adult. You also need to pick a safe meeting place outside your home where you and your family can meet to make sure everyone is safe. It should also be a place where you can see the fire fighters when they come.
Before you open any doors in a fire always feel it first, if the door is hot there could be a fire on the other side, DO NOT OPEN IT. You should then find another way out! You should also stay low to the floor when escaping a fire. Don't forget to close doors and windows behind you to slow the spread of fire.
What do I do once I am outside and at my meeting place?
When you get to your meeting place wait for your family and then send someone to call 911. NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT GO BACK INTO YOUR HOUSE FOR ANYTHING!!!
